Here you will find answers to the most common questions about drones, classes and authorisations, equipment and orders. Did not find what you were looking for? Write or call us, we are happy to help.
It depends on what you want to do: amateur photo and video, inspections, mapping and surveying, agriculture or professional missions. There is no “best drone”, only the one that fits your purpose and budget. Tell us what you need and we will recommend the right model and accessories.
Consumer drones are designed for photo and video and flying for pleasure: light, easy to use and affordably priced. Professional and Enterprise drones are built for work: special sensors and cameras (for example thermal), higher precision, reliability for intensive use, the ability to work with RTK, payloads and fleet management solutions.
For spraying and spreading, agricultural drones are used, such as those in the DJI Agras range. They are large working drones with a tank that cover large areas much faster than traditional methods. Because they are heavy drones that release material in the air, they have special authorisation requirements (see the “Classes and authorisations” section).
A drone with a camera suitable for photogrammetry, plus a precision positioning system (RTK/GNSS) for accurate results. Our range includes GNSS stations and receivers, including CHCNAV and DJI D-RTK, used together with drones for precision measurements.
RTK (Real-Time Kinematic) is a GNSS (GPS and others) signal correction technique that brings positioning accuracy to the centimetre level, compared to metres with ordinary GPS. An RTK module or station, such as D-RTK, helps the drone fly precisely along its route and improves the accuracy of maps and measurements.
On each product page you will find buttons to the user manual and, where available, the manufacturer’s safety guide. Read them before your first flight.
They are European markings that the manufacturer applies to drones in the open category, depending on weight and safety features. The marking shows under what conditions you can fly the drone.
Roughly: C0 under 250 g, C1 under 900 g, C2 under 4 kg, C3 and C4 under 25 kg.
The European regulation divides flights into three categories, according to risk:
Open – low risk, no flight authorisation, within visual line of sight, at a maximum height of 120 m and with drones under 25 kg.
Specific – medium risk, with an authorisation from the authority or a declaration by the operator, based on a risk assessment.
Certified – high risk (for example carrying people), with special approvals.
In the open category, the rules differ according to the distance from people:
For most drones in the open category, the pilot must hold the online competency certificate A1/A3, obtained through an online course and exam. For subcategory A2 (C2 drones) an additional certificate is needed. In the specific category, the requirements depend on the operation’s authorisation. The smallest drones (for example those under 250 g) have lighter requirements. Always check the current rules with AACR.
In general, yes: the operator registers with the aviation authority (caa.ro (AACR)) and receives an operator code, which is applied to the drone. Registration is usually required for drones over 250 g or for those with a camera or other sensor that can capture personal data. Registration is done by the user, not by the seller.
UAS geographical zones limit flying: some are prohibited (for example near military sites, airports or sensitive areas), others require prior authorisation. Check the UAS geographical zones map and the official information before every flight, on caa.ro (AACR) or in the official planning apps. Always stay within visual line of sight and below 120 m (in the open category).
Agricultural spraying drones, such as the DJI Agras ones, release material in the air and usually exceed the limits of the open category. That is why they fly in the specific category, with an authorisation or operator declaration from the aviation authority, which may be accompanied by authorisations in the field of agricultural treatments. The exact requirements depend on the drone model and the type of work.
Yes. Besides selling equipment, Zerovec also offers consultancy for authorising drone operations. Write to us at contact@zerovec.ro or call +40 770 531 656 and we will tell you what you need to do in your case.
The information in this section is indicative and does not replace the official regulations. Rules may change, so always check the current situation with the aviation authority.
Follow the instructions in the manufacturer’s manual. As a general rule: do not leave them fully discharged, do not expose them to heat or moisture, do not use them if they are swollen or damaged, and keep them at a moderate charge level if you will not use them for a longer period.
LiPo/lithium batteries have special air transport rules, depending on their capacity. Check the airline’s and airport’s rules before travelling and carry the batteries in your hand luggage, in protective packaging.
Use the manufacturer’s official app for firmware updates and check regularly for new versions. Keep updates current for safety and correct functions, but do not update right before an important mission.
Do not keep using it. Write to us at contact@zerovec.ro with the order number, the product, the serial number and a description of the problem (with photos, if they help). Service and repairs are carried out by the manufacturer or its authorised partner; we guide you throughout.
